I have Delphi 7 Professional with included Installshield Express Borland Limited Edition (3.5). I am not a very experienced software professional. I am trying to build an installation program for a Delphi Application that I have authored using the supplied Install Shield Software. I don't believe the software comes with an Example DLL as a DELPHI project for accomplishing serial number validation. (This option I would like to use) I have used delphi to compile a DLL which exports a function SNValid which accepts a string (tried string/smallstr) and returns a value (tried word/integer/smallint). When I test the installation program it crashes reporting: 'The DLL call 'SNValid' caused a corrupt stack, make sure you have correct number of parameters and the function uses standard calling convention.' I would greatly appreciate insight into the proper syntax and protocol for a correct delphi generated DLL for installshield to use for simple serial number validation.
